Liechtenstein in the Council of Europe

Liechtenstein has been a member of the Council of Europe since 23 November 1978. At the time of its accession, the Principality was the 21st member of the organisation. Since then, Liechtenstein's engagement within the Council of Europe has focused in particular on strengthening the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) and combating money laundering and corruption. Combating violence against women and domestic violence are further traditional priorities.

The official website of the Liechtenstein Presidency of the Council of Europe provides a wealth of interesting information about Liechtenstein's path to the Council of Europe, its political activities in Strasbourg, and its representatives in the most important Council of Europe bodies.
